There are numerous questions that one may have after they watch a film.

Why did I watch it?

How the hell is Batman alive?

Is a movie ticket still a valid movie ticket, if you replace the screen-number and movie name on it?

I Woke Up One Morning And Found Myself Famous asks a rather serious one (or maybe more than one) and to not spoil your experience of the same, I shall refrain from stating it here.

This short film revolves around the suicide of a student and it contains interviews of his friends, teachers and the local police representative among others. It is directed by Sumit Purohit, who is otherwise known for his trailer mashups such as Wasseypur ka Dark KnightThe Joker of Wasseypur and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag – Man of Steel Trailer Mash Up. He also edited a real trailer for another wonderful film and we had featured it here.

The film is what it says it is and the real deal is the way it hits you in the end.  There might be certain graphic scenes in the film but I suggest you either watch it in its entirety or not watch it at all. But then again you should watch it.

Here’s what some others thought of the film:
“…gripping and important viewing. - Uma Da Cunha. Film India Worldwide

“interesting concept…makes mockery of media & voyeuristic society.” – Namrata Joshi, Film Critic – Outlook

“…very impressive…truly intriguing… set up as a terrific thriller.” - Pratim Dasgupta, Film Critic – Telegraph

“…very original concept and executed really well. Devastating and disturbing on a lot of levels”.- Mihir Fadnavis, Film Critic

“Catches you off guard in its simplicity before blowing you away with its import.” – Karan Anshuman, Film Critic – Mumbai Mirror

I first discovered this movie when I was programming a short film festival for my college. Shiladitya Bora had suggested it and I had absolutely no clue as to what the film was about. I hadn’t heard of the director or the film itself. It looked like another obscure short film that would be soon forgotten until its maker made a Star Wars or an Indiana Jones.

I was tired and even bored by some of the other short films that had come to us and I honestly didn’t want to watch it.
But I had to and I did.

And I am glad I did.
