Our friends at Homegrown are collaborating with PUMA to create and curate some awesome events through the year. Starting with the ‘Collectors and Curators’ event to be hosted at PUMA Social Club on the 22nd of March,2014.
The official press release states:
“Collectors and Curators serves as a platform for an individual artist and collectors to showcase their exclusive collections and screen unique self – made short films. Bangalore has always had an audience of varied interests and hobbies, while some collect stamps, comic books, some have Records, and even Old school 8 bit video games. The idea is to bring all these collectors under one roof, to show off their collections and interact with other collectors from the city.
The day kicks off with collectors setting up their tables and people coming to take in the various kinds of collectors that Bangalore’s been hiding and their displays. Later in the day, the event opens up to a barter session, wherein people will be encouraged to share and BARTER goods if they feel up to the task. There will be no cash exchanges at the event, only pure barters where one person can give an item of their own in exchange for something somebody else may have which they’d like to get their hands on. Post this, it’s all about lazy watches which will see three hand-picked curators & filmmakers showcase their own picks of short films within 30-minute slots.
The night finally ends with a MyPOD listening session, with music curated by Bangaore’s biggest music collectors who need no excuse to put their collections on aural display.”
From what we know, this is going to be pretty crazy with collectors showcasing everything from 100 year old comics to Match Boxes from all of the states of India. Films by Abhishek (of the Holy Stoked Collective ), Mithun Bhatt and Sudeep Bhattacharya are scheduled to be screened. There’s also a Photography & Artwork showcase by Mithun Bhatt, Amyth Venkataramaiah, Anantpal Saluja and others.
We really dig the up-cycling ethos that the PUMA Social Club promotes and such events make us more than happy. Hope to see you there.
