Death on the Horizon

Not Without A Cause: Rebel County 2011

What happened in Shillong when the youth decided to raise concerns for the environment? No, they did not hold a rally and neither did they organize a clean-up. What they did instead was put up a whole event where a lot of bands performed along with some crazy bike stunts and B-boying. This is one of the most effective and innovative ideas we have seen in a long time. Something unpretentious and not excessively publicized – Rudolf Mawlieh tells us more about the event.

Sponsored by The Computer Store and organized by Rockski Group in association with the PLA IEW Club and Project Shillong, Rebel County 2011 took place on the 19th of November. It revolved around two major themes:

1. Music Meets Throttle

2. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

The roster included Li’l Demons (B-boying/BMX troupe), Freaky Bikers (Shillong’s premier Bike stunting outfit),  metal monsters A Night of Dead Romance, along with the assault of 11th Hour, rock ‘n’ roll lads Tarik, metal band Death on the Horizon, death/grind powerhouse Plague Throat and modern thrash metal band, Undying Inc. The youth also pledged to spread awareness about various environmental concerns.
