Garfield turns 33!
On June 19, 1978, Garfield made its debut on print. The mastermind behind this cartoon, Jim Davis wanted his series to be focused on a fat and lazy orange cat that would represent the typical ‘couch potato’ phrase that we commonly use. It was introduced all around the world in just 41 newspapers initially but it is so popular now that it is read daily by 265,000,000 people around the globe!
Apart from the regular cartoon strips that appear on print, Garfield has four movies to its credit and with a successful TV show too (1988 – 1995), everybody loves it!
The Garfield DOGO was conceptualized because we love the concept behind the cartoon and after all, the world’s most widely syndicated comic strip needs to be recognized, right?
