Get Published: Urban Shots Yuva
After a range of successful titles, Grey Oak-Westland is all set to publish Urban Shots Yuva, a book of short stories written by writers under the age of twenty-four. This book is expected to release in the first half of 2013 and will the fifth addition to the popular Urban Shots series. Like they did for their previous books, the publishers have announced a contest where aspiring writers can send their stories in and stand a chance of getting published.
The contest is open till the 15th of this month and believe us, it does feel great when hundreds of others around the country pick a copy of the book in which one story is yours. There is no upper limit to the number of stories you can send but you need to be under the age of twenty-four and your writing needs to appeal to readers, young and old, around the country. Make sure that the story you are sending is unpublished and has not been sent to another publisher as well. The books published similarly in the past have all made it to fiction bestseller lists across the country. What we really like about this initiative is that every year, a lot of amateur writers find their voice in the form of published stories which are then picked up by people who think similarly. How we see it is this: this is a platform where ideas merge but yet retain their own identities.
We really hope that a lot of you do participate even though there’s little time left for the competition to end. Feel free to email us on [email protected] with your queries or simply comment under this post.
